PA Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) has a new Training Management System (TMS). In order to register  for any classes registration must be done on their website. The registration link will take you to their website registration.

Motivational Interviewing: Advancing the Practice

This program is intended for those individuals working in the Behavioral Health Problem Gambling and Substance Abuse Fields

Presented by Amy Shanahan, MS, CADC Billie Jo Smith, MS, LPC

This course will provide the attendee with knowledge of the comprehensive view of the     

complex elements as it relates to the right actions for the professional in the Behavioral 

Health Field.  The course is designed to address the specific ethical guidelines as they   relate to those individuals who hold designations in Substance Abuse Counseling, Nursing, Problem Gambling Counseling, Teachers, National Board of Certified Counselors and Licensed Social Workers.

Upon the completion of this 2-day program the participants will be able to:

Give participants the information to respond to individuals with empathic, reflective statements, Identify change talk within individual speech.
Understand when and how to use open-ended questions to elicit change talk.

This training is followed by an optional and invitational series of 8 monthly learning collaboratives.
